Hooker Heaven pt. II

In light of every post I've ever made: I am a retard.

We are actually recording, for realzies. JESUS CHRIST

Hooker Heaven

Hey you Anarchists!

Let's have a party. My house. I can't make rent, but we'll be friends and drink our sorrows away.

You know I don't really drink, so you know how low I've sunk. Let's drink and maybe make a record. We'll call it "Hooker Heaven" and bring in some real hookers. We'll send them to Larry Flint's house and he'll bring us on tour with him as the opening act for his spoken word. It'll happen soon.

GET DIRTY.

You are a punk band.

Hello punk band.

I am max and I listen to mohawks.

Once again, writing more tunes. And once again, pushing the limits of what each of us considers completely disgusting. It could be Morgan's Jesus Lizard kick, or the crush I have on Modern Life Is War, but I have a hunch that it's Ian's obsession with KOЯN.

Backwards "R"? DAMN STRAIGHT.

something something fucking fiction

So, we haven't played a show in a very long time. We've been trying to write a gaggle of songs before homeslice Skylar gets back to california to record us(with BOB) for our full length. We have two fully completed brand-shpankin' new songs and 2 or three more that are in the works. Last night, after we jammed on some Nirvana, we showed Bob the fully finished ones. He said they sounded "pretty good" and "mellow".
Uh Oh. Not a good sign.
In other news, we have yet to hear the rough mixes of the two songs for The New Trust split. We are at your mercy, Dan Kelly.

Lovers!

Lovers. Haters. Robo Diapers. Problems. Let's Fight. Just Kidding. Let's Love.

Oh, the poetry in everyday life...NOT!!!! Just kidding, of course. Of course, my curse(just kidding is).

Let's get a job. A stable job, maybe. A decent paying job, maybe.
Let's sleep well because it feels so fucking good. Romanticism in insomnia is more like inBLAHmnia, duh.

August 5-16 tour - aka the "Where's my juice?!" tour

So I just got back (well, sorta, two days ago) from our 1 1/2 week jaunt up and down the western seaboard with Shinobu. Morgan and Max are still out with Shinobu and replacing Pteradon with I Sing the Body Electric for another six weeks or so. Wish I could've gone that long, but I unfortunately have a little something called "work" that I had to get back to. psshaw!

Anyways, each and every show went really well. We met some really tight people, made some new friends and learned a lot of new things about each other. For instance, we learned that Matt is a music jock and likes Metallica a LOT, that Morgan likes Helmet, what Max is like when he's had a few drinks in him, that Jon still has game even when he doesn't speak the girls language, that Bob is Morgan's baby, that I really do have a problem with unintentional cuddling in the middle of the night and that Mike really does live off of french fries.

One of the things that sticks our from the tour is leaving every morning from a different persons house in a different town and telling everyone in the van "how tight so-and-so is and how nice of a guy he is!". Seriously, each and every person who gave us a place to stay was super hospitable and nicer than shit! Thanks specifically to Rudy, Keith Rosson, Cameron Collins, Paul, Chris Candy and Bill/Crystal/Anthony. Without you tour wouldn't have been what it was!

Also thanks to all of the tight bands we played with. Off the top of my head, here are some of the bands you should check out because they make good music and are tight dudes: Like Claws, Chotto Ghetto, Bomb the Music Industry, Neckties Make Me Nervous, Broadway Calls, Western Front and Born Hairy.

I can't wait to do it again!

You Want Some Taffy?

Well well well! Holy Macaroni! What an amazing week.
Wednesday with The New Trust and Litany For The Whale.
Friday and Saturday with the whole Asian Man crowd. Amazing.
I'm really glad we got to be a part of it. Everything about those shows were amazing. Everyone was friendly and nice and sincere.
Shinobu rocked it as usual, and Andrew Jackson Jihad won the hearts of everyone.
Mike Park was an amazing host and a perfect gentleman.
Skyler was wonderful!

Much thanks to everyone who deserves it!

Whittling Stick

Thank goodness for food.
I had a dream last night that I was in a bread line. I was starving, but all that was left was soup and grape juice!
I want to keep a full belly.
I only have $100 saved up for tour so far. My home is not in dumpsters.

I have been unemployed all year.

IMPRESSED???!?!

Look At Me! I'm Great!

UPDATE!
So I sort of had a job for a little bit. I was even waking up at 8:30 every morning. Pretty crazy. I thought I was decent, but it looks like I was actually shitty! I must've been too slow and sloppy and not very fantastic. It's a shame!!! I was even ENJOYING it!
Tour is moving along, I have a few dates confirmed, I need a few more.
Tour is going to be savage.
I think I will get a job at Safeway. Bikes hate me.
AUGUST AUGUST AUGUST!!! MAKE IT TO AUGUST!!!!!!

Rude Boys Say Haaaaaay

So the other night in a sudden fit of personal disgust, I deleted all of my previous blogs.
“You are shitty and awesome and annoying and savbone!”
I guess I never realized how impulsive I was. I almost deleted all of our myspace friends on several occasions because of my intense rage caused by that damn site.
Now, After quitting my job over three months ago I have become even more restless and crazy. It was good for a while, and I was feeling very nice. Sleeping well, doing lots of things I couldn’t do if I had a job. But now…now I feel lazy. And have begun taking my free time for granted!
But if you need to live, time isn’t free! I have been unemployed since late February and have successfully managed to waste away nearly 1,500 hundred dollars of back pay on food and other oppressive amenities. My checking account is crumbling right in front of me as I pretend to scramble and panic and try to get a job.
COME HERE BICYCLES. Working on getting a job at a bicycle shop so I can quit 2 months later to go on tour with a bunch of cutie-pies.
Maybe then chirpy_boy will resurrect himself.

Let there be pinky-time.

You Think They Look Happy????

Hello!

So Friday we all met at the practice space. 3 large pizzas and and a liter of cola. We recorded two songs with our millipede loving friend* SKYLAR.

We recorded a new one called,"Mezzanine Level" and a cover of the Discount song, "Harder To Tell".
These songs will be on the Shinobu/Pteradon split 7" that we have been talking about for over 2 years.

Big ups to Bob for sticking around and playing his DS all night. Big ups to Skylar for recording us and putting up with us!

What an asshole.

The World As Myth: Yikes!

Yep. So what happens when a band changes their name to something more akin to Mastadon for anyone to be comfortable with?

They start writing metal songs.

Science fiction metal songs to be exact.

To be fair though, it sounds a little more like Neurosis than actual metal. And to be even fairer, it sounds nothing like Neurosis

Yikes!

Pteradon vs Razorcake...again!

"So this guy wrote his address on a piece of paper and taped it to the face of this CD-R. The CD-R was also spray-painted. Plus, said CD-R was cracked nearly in half by the time it made it to me. All of this resulted the Pteradon demo being one unplayable motherfucker. –Keith Rosson"

Yeah, I am an idiot...no duh!

But listen, the reason I wrote my address on the mylar encasing and the cd itself was because they say on their website, "If we review anything and it has a postal address right on the piece of music (or affixed securely), we will send you a copy of the zine to that address. (Putting a sheet of paper in the envelope doesn't count.)"
So I put my address any place I could. I wanted a free razorcake.

And I got my free razorcake.

I win.

love,
max

Say hello to mystery meat!

So I broke a few conventions. I don't care - you don't have to be my friend.

As a web designer myself I should know better than to use "mystery meat" navigation. I should also know better than using images instead of unordered lists for site navigation. So what. Convention is nice and all, but it's not the fucking LAW.

I leave you with this:

Just like Born Against and Refused.

But enough of that! Let's talk about Pteradon's collective writers block, or about how all of us have been avoiding practice with an unspoken understanding. OR we could talk about our upcoming shows and our new awesome t-shirt design.

We will go into no great length about any of these as I am late for an engagement!

Max Sentenced to Hang!

That's right. Crimes against humanity. Well ladi-da!

That being said, things are good.
The past few weeks have been Ka-razy! I:
1. Had a gun pointed at me.
2. Unintentionally supported a strangers drug habit.
3. Had a mustache.
One of those must be good. I am not sure which one.

The Springman "9-way split" is pretty righteous. But not as righteous as Righteos Babe Records, label owned by Ani Defranco, or the Swedish Oi! band The Righteous.

NEWS:
I am hoping for a short little 10 day tour this February to Seattle and back. Ian?

Also, I am very proud of: Bob, Adam and Bear.

A Good Review

Here's to fame and fortune!

"NOVEMBER TRIALS:
Cover Your Tracks: CD
The recording is horrible but the music isn’t. The band sounds like a premature Cursive. They still need to develop into something more than a third rate knockoff. They need their own sound and the lyrics need some kind of psychedelic drug to make them more interesting. But if they got their shit together, who knows? The second track, “Dance Dance Revolution,” is better than the first. The drums sound like cardboard boxes. With all that shit said, it’s not horrible, they just need work. I wonder how old they are and how long it took to record this record. My guess is between seventeen and twenty years old, three months. –Guest Contributor (Self-released)"

Max the Great Jet Setter!!!!!

hello friends!

Don't have much to say. I am having a good time with things. I wrote a much better and very funny entry a few minutes ago, but it somehow got deleted while trying to post it(you better not give me shit Ian!).

I posted some shows and if you just look to your right you will see the fury.

Can we ever pick a band name? Among others we have contemplated, we have: Pterodactyl, Data-Storm, The Ever Present Data-Storm, Iron Lung(already taken) and many many more. Most of them are amazing, like Ian's brain child "The Stinky". fucking awesome.

We will see. Most of you rule.

Hi my name is Morgan and I have a Problem..........

I'M ADDICTED TO COOL!!

Yeah right. Sigh.
Remember back in school where everyone wanted to be cool. Luckily I got over that fairly early. Sadly it resulted in my only connection to the word "cool" being when I used to wear a "Joe Cool"(for those of you who aren't 'in the know', Joe Cool is a Snoopy character. When he puts on sunglasses he becomes the nefarious Joe Cool), size youth small t-shirt. The fact that it is a youth small tells you how long it has been since I was connected with Cool. Now I just make up for it with being pseudo-intellectual and telling bad jokes in a way that sounds funny so people laugh before they understand the meaning.
Sad isn't it. How cynical I've become.
(Really I only put that whole prattle above is there because I heard that cynicism is now in vogue. Old habits die hard okay)

Anyhoo we are working on some new material right now. Sweating out some tunes in our stinky practice place. Whew!! We have written music for two new songs I haven't penned any lyrics for them yet. We previewed them for Mike from Shinobu. He said he was glad that we had finally gotten rid of that Morgan guy and become and instrumental band. He also said that they sounded like Black Flag covering Tower of Power but with a heavy swamp metal influence.
Maybe when we have a show you will hear these two new gems of songwriting genius. In other news Chaka Khan is going to cover the new Minus The Bear song "Pachuca Sunrise".

Also if you want to be cool in the eyes of NT you should use Mozilla Firefox(or Mogzilla if Clayton got to you before I did), it's a cool web browser that's free and like 20 times better than IE.

Rock out and let the sweat flow.

Love, Morgan

Max is a Gaint Fucking Asshole

Hey dude-bros and dude-bras! Racoon face here giving some sweet updates regarding things!

I should warn you, these things are very interesting. If you decided to read on, which you probably will, you will be extremely intrigued. You've been warned!

The first interesting topic is about how I got a totally sweet sign that says "Do Not Enter", I cleverly put it on my door so people entering would find it amusing. Of course it's a joke, and you can enter my house anytime you want!!!! My address is 688 Blackford Ct and my door is always unlocked!

Lots of things are happening with November Trials that are probably not worth mentioning, but for the sake of lengthy entries, I will proceed, and continue ending my paragraphs with exclamation points!

We are back from tour and should post some pictures, a new song, some journal entries, etc in the near future. We met a lot of awesome people and a lot of crappy cities...(F-U EUGENE, OREGON!) In addition to all of this, while on tour through Oregon and Washington we found a northwest passage! This one's for you Tweedleburger!

Brandon Allender(rhythm guitar) is no longer in the band. We've decided, for the time being, to return to a three piece...!

We are probably going to change our name to something awesome...finally. We've had the name November Trials for a long time, and it's a crappy name. We've been planning on doing this for a while and it really doesn't sound cool unless you say it with a metal growl,"NOVEMBER TRIALLLS!!!" Possible names in consideration are, The Three Stooges, December Mornings Look Like Death and Jawbreaker...!

Things are looking up and we are tentatively planning a tour with the band Shinobu(www.niceshinobu.com) that will take place hopefully in the winter!

Also, while we are on the subject of things, I want to thank everyone who came to the Cuddle-warped Tour(san jose) and sang along and did everything they did to make the night what it was!

That's it for now, but you can expect a lot more from us soon!

PS
I've been dealing with a lot of shit recently! I want some fucking people to sign our guestbook! Come on people! If you're there say something!

First off, thanks to everyone who came out to our awesomely awesome "kick-off" tour and Cooper's b-day. If you didn't come, here's what you missed:

Hotdogs, hamburgers, me dunking, me not dunking, Morgan not dunking, Brandon not dunking, Max definitely dunking. Croony rocking, Seven Inch Switchblade rocking, Shinobu ROCKING, and us, well we tried. You also missed cake, friends, swimming, masculinity at it's best on the "Too Cool" raft and much, much, much, much more!

Good news: We raised some hefty coin to make it at least half way through tour without having to open up our pockets for at the Gas Station. For everyone who helped, thanks so very much!!!!!!!! We leave for tour on Wednesday, and we couldn't have asked for a better party to get things rockin'!

More good news: We come back around the 9th-10th. The actual news: We have a show on the 12th with the Fighting Jacks and Love = Death. This will be hella tight! I don't think the venue is finalized yet, but when it is, I'll post it. Anyways, YOU must come, and by YOU, I mean every single one of YOU.

MORE!!!!!!!!: On tour, we'll be playing a few college radio stations. Our first is KSSU in Sacramento. They having a webcast of their station, so you can hear it online. We'll be on at 1:30-2:00pm, playing some sort of an acoustic set and telling awful jokes on air. If you want to hear us doing this, go here and click on the Listen Live button.

MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: Read a f-ing review of our EP, Cover Your Tracks from Impact Press. Here's the link: http://www.impactpress.com/articles/summer05/musicrsummer05.html

Ten Ways to Turn Your Man On and Keep Him Interested

Dear Fools and Foolettes:

Wanna hear what's going on with November Trials? Well, read on my little hoodrat friends.......

If you have been living under a rock, which in a purely metaphorical sense, you probably have (F-U!), NT is fricking booking a totally sweet tour. We have 3 unconfirmed days and the tour is in 2 weeks! "Well, huzzah huzzah!"

Max is running around frantically trying to get his shiznaz together to fill the dates while still maintaining his Dungeon Master statis(fuck you Kremlork!).

Ian hasn't been able to do any heavy lifting recently because he got carpal tunnel syndrome(humorously, but not coincidentally while his girlfriend was gone for a week). Hopefully though, Ian will be rarin' to go for the tour in the coming days. We love you buddy!

And Morgan....SHIT! Let me tell you about Morgan:

Morgan is an F-ing PIMP! I will not go into detail about this, but I will say he is officially the bomb(as adjudicated by the Teen Choice Awards...more like the 1 -1/2X-his-age-woman-choice-awards, if you know what I mean!) but like I said, I will not go into detail about this(So we played a show at this bar last night...after our performance, while I was going through the usual motions of trying to get people to hate me, A lady walked up to Morgan, and asked for a CD. "Will you sign it?" she said smoking a cigarrette.

"Yeah, sure."

"Great...hey, why don't you write your number on there too..."

"Oh...OK!"

So he did. They exchanged numbers. He better call her.)

Anyway...that leaves one of our comrades left to discuss. Brandon. Well, we don't want to talk about him.....he is in Re-hab. Everyone else in NT wishes Brandon the best and a hope for a speedy recovery.

JUST KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus, you people will believe anything. Brandon is doing extremely well, and has been extremely drug free. He has just returned from a cruise in the Caribbean, with Ian's girlfriend(what?!). Not Ironically and not so humorously WITHOUT carpal tunnel syndrome. Hmmm....

Now, November Trials as a group has just purchased a totally gnarly(YES! gnarly!) trailer to get ready for our tour. This beast is called an Aristocrat and was made in 1965. It's totally sweet. I guarantee you. This 12 foot beauty came with a sink, refridgerator, stove/oven, AND a chamber pot. In order to make room for people and gear, the NT Collective ripped out these neato accessories and it looks better than ever. We have yet to give it a name, and though totally cliche, we plan on doing so.

At this time I would like to take a moment to introduce the newest member of the NT Collective: COOPER FALK. This lovable hunk-o'-man shall be November Trials' tour roadie/fun dude(yes 'fun dude!') his job is to have fun, ensure we all have fun and stay loose. It will be Cooper's 21st B-day on tour, and we should have a grand time tearing up America's cities being hectic and sweet.

WE LEAVE FOR TOUR IN TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS OUR LIVES!

What's this? novembertrials.org??

Aight yall, anybody who reads this probably noticed that we have a new website address. I'm currently working on a new site as well, which should be live in a short while.

Why the change you might ask? Well, some asshole who lives in Choongjoo-city, Choongbook (no lie!), where ever the hell that is, purchased our domain the minute our registration was up. So if you're looking for a search engine with "all the best resources on the net", go ahead and visit novembertrials.com.

Anyways, now that we have this site, I (and the rest of the band) can finally keep everyone updated again. In fact, I went through a somewhat gordian process to, for lack of a better word, "hack" into our our server to get my username and password to our news program, just so I could give you good people some news.

Hopefully someone other then the rest of the band members reads this.

We also have shows coming up. One this weekend at the Basement on SCU campus, and one at the Gaslighter on Tuesday. To get all the info, go out our myspace page, http://www.myspace.com/novembertrials.

That's all for now. New site soon.

Hello legions of loyal fans. JK, you guys are pure f-ing H.

Woah. The recording is going ok, a bit demoralizing what with the length of time being taken and sub-par recording techniques.

I am going to Jackson Rancheria Indian Casino (are you a member of the illustrious Dreamcatchers® club?) with some dudes in celebration of mine and Clayton\'s B-days. I will update when I get back.

back up again

finally, our site is up again and i found the time to work on it. i spent a few hours programming a new applet for adding news, so now the band members can login and add news on their own.

you might notice that our site it out of date and missing some sections. well, that's because we had some shady company hosting it. we lost all of our guestbook and forum entries and a lot of out recent news. i plan to fix that in the next few days or so, so that things are back to normal here.

with that aside, i shall let you in on the actually band news. we are recording 8 songs, some new, some old, that we will be releasing some time in the future. when, i don't know. also, we will be booking some shows soon, since max ain't leaving for a few months...BOOYA!

thanks for reading and check back soon for more updates, a preview of our new recording, and show listings.
